We’ve described our expertise and our experts. Now we’ll describe how they come together. This website has plenty of photographs showing how other Westbury conservatories have come together for other people but remember that we don’t supply ‘off-the-shelf’ conservatories. Your Westbury conservatory will be unlike any others we’ve built.
At our design studio
Following our designer’s site visit, we’ll draw up detailed plans, create a watercolour illustration of your proposed conservatory and prepare a detailed quotation. Naturally, the plans will reflect your discussions with our designer. They may involve opening-up internal walls to create light and space.
In general, we aim to create conservatories with simple, unfussy lines and no unnecessary adornments. If your home is Edwardian or Victorian, of course, we’ll add embellishments to match the period structure.
At this stage, we’ll obtain planning permission and Listed Building Consent if they’re required. Our architect and surveyor have years of experience dealing with local authority planning departments and they know the planning regulations well.
At your site
Once you’ve given the go-ahead, our architect will visit your home and take detailed measurements. He’ll apply for planning permission and listed building consent if required. We have many years’ experience working with local authorities on planning matters and our knowledge of planning consents, party wall agreements and building regulations is detailed and up-to-date.
Your dedicated Project Manager will then send you a schedule showing the work sequence from the start date. On the appointed day, Westbury staff (not sub-contractors) will start digging the foundations. If necessary, they’ll adjust the drains and lay rainwater soakaways. As our bricklayers finish the walls, the hardwood frames will be checked and double-checked before delivery. Our fitting team will then arrive to construct the conservatory, first building the frame, then fitting the roof, windows and doors.
At our workshops
Armed with the detailed scale drawings, our team of fully qualified joiners will begin constructing the hardwood frame of your conservatory. They use computer-controlled machinery to ensure complete accuracy. This blend of modern technology and craft skills leads to the production of a long-lasting structure. We only use hardwood from sustainable sources.
At all locations, our Project Manager will be working to make sure everything’s going to plan. She thrives on detail. If you’ve chosen reclaimed floor tiles, for instance, she’ll work out how many you need, including wastage, and arrange delivery. She’ll order the high-tech sealed double-glazing units and arrange for the decorators to come and finish the job.
